New plantings

Last week, I planted watermelons but only a few sprouted so put in a few more today.

I have also planted okra, sugarsnap peas, carrots and potatoes (Dutch Cream near the brassicas). Transplanted lettuce, kailan, bitter gourd, tang-oh and purple beans.

One cabbage will be ready for harvest in 1-2 weeks' time.

It hasn't been raining so last week, I topped up the dam with bore water for 2 days.

Life's little pleasures

The brassicas are growing well. The snails and slugs nearly demolished the eggplant seedlings (forget to put snail pellets). This year, I am only planting 3 butternut pumpkin plants. Every year, I ended up giving pumpkins away rather than just eating them myself.

The other seedlings are doing well (4 varieties of tomato, telegraph cucumber, purple basil, jalopeno chilli x2, spinach and lettuce).

I have also put my mature brassica seedlings into the soil and new lettuce sowing, too.

Ah, one should eat home-grown asparagus to realise what rubbish is sold in the supermarket!
