OSH

About 40km from where OSH already has a pipeline, it has just drilled and discovered USD14 billion worth of gas/condensate in PNG.  Not only that, it has a processing plant which can take in more gas so the infrastructure cost will be relatively minimal.  In addition, this company has a good working relationship with the tribes and government.

This morning, the share price actually fell this AM and now it has stabilized.  Fell????  Isn't it incredible that people are selling when it has a major discovery!  OSH is one of my biggest parcels but I could not resist topping it up.  It also pays a dividend.

The opposite is happening...

With Trump's victory, the markets are supposed to tumble because of his radical and irrational approach.  Gold is supposed to rise due to uncertainties.  Warren rallied against him and is now one of the biggest beneficiary!  Luckily I didn't buy gold bullion!

However, it is early days yet...

AMI

Normally when there is a good announcement, the share price jumps and then falls when the news becomes old news.  Unfortunately, the price of gold has been falling so news of good gold strike is not greeted enthusiastically.

So AMI has a fall in share price when it uncovers more gold.  Well, I might be a fool but if investors want to dump a good stock, I am always obliged to pick them up if I have spare cash.

FBR

Last week, when the price tumbled to below my average buy price, I bought more shares.  Then it was suspended.  I was annoyed because someone may have insider information.  It was raising capital and placements are nearly always bad news fro small inestors.  And these new investors often get to buy at a lower price.  So you can expect the share price to plunge when it reopens.

However, because it has a 'cornerstone' investor with a deep pocket and a history of being astute buyer, the share price jumped UP this AM when it reopened for business on the ASX.  The placement price was much lower as usual.

My alpha today is mostly from FBR...

Banks and Miners

One moment, many 'experts' came out saying go underweight in banks and miners; too many bad factors and they, especially the banks are overpriced and commodity prices will take a while to recover.

And then, suddenly, another group (GS) comes out to say the opposite!  Soon, more lemmings will follow.  In the meantime, I only look at whether people are dumping banks or financial stocks and pick them up if their dividend is not adversely affected by the economy.

ASX

Being a contrarian, it would be nicer if there is an explanation.  There isn't one today on ASX.

All my bank shares and SYD went up today.  And most blue chips did too.  However, why ASX went down, I have no idea.  Most of my mining stocks either did nothing or went 'up' minimally or went down.  So I took the opportunity to get rid of small resource stocks and accumulated a few more ASX shares.

ASX has been giving good dividend; far better than banks giving interest on deposits, and with dividend imputation.  While it is not a monopoly, it functions like one.

TAS

How crazy can it be?

You make a good announcement with your subsidiary... and your share price remains stagnant.

The market is in the USA and potentially worth billions and Aussie media is totally indifferent to it.  And in the meantime, Donald Duck wants to spend big on infrastructure.
