Recent purchases...

I haven't been active lately because I find it hard to work out the logic.  The markets in the USA and Japan are doing well.  The economy seems to be improving.  And China hasn't been as bad.  Yet commodity prices continue to fall and POG, too.  I get the feeling that the floor has been reached for gold.

Both SLR and NST top-ups haven't been doing well.  POG continued to fall and no one is interested in the fortunes of NST... ie, its coal discovery in the Pilbara.  SLR was for me a big disappointment but it was being honest.  When it gave its cash cost per oz of Au produced, you suddenly notice how low the profit is!

But AQO has suddenly risen.  The financial editor of The Australian gave it the thumbs up recently but the market was totally uninterested so.... I topped up and it is doing very well.

The other recent top-up was RRS.  Good news but it got thrashed by investors.  I haven't been about to get my full quota at 2.5c but I did get a small parcel.

BZR

When you read about BZR, you wonder whether it is true (while share price is falling!) or whether they bribed the writer to mark it up.

You will never know!  Until they pay a good dividend, I stay invested but have some scepticism.

TON

Another bit of good news, so the share price went up today in a down market.  But the trouble is investors' memory is so ephemeral.  Soon, it will topple again like before.  It is incredible how people pile in and then pile out.

I can only hope that today's announcement would imply a good deposit; more extensive and better quality.  Its neighbour has already exploded in worth; too late to buy and that is why I tapped into this stock some time ago.

IBG

I put in a low bid for IBG today.  When you read what is predicted for zinc in the next 5 years, you hope the predictors are right!  Greenland parliament has made the first "right" move into mining.

Yet Iran has one of the largest untapped zinc resources.  An Aussie company used to explore it but it cannot be developed because the USA has slapped a trading embargo against it as a punishment for wanting to develop an advanced nuclear capability.  It is very silly to invest in that country, too.  It is one of those countries that makes appealing music to attract exploration and then murder your prospect once you have found a huge deposit.

AQO

When the business editor of The Australian praised AQO about a week ago, nothing much happened on that day.  And then, the latecomers started to pile in and brought the price up.  But like many things in the ASX, the share price started to drift downwards.  I had no intention of joining the upwards trend so I put in a lower bid at 15c.  And this AM, I topped up my holding in AQO.

Under bullish and normal circumstances, a tip by the business editor means a more sustained jump in the share price.  But lately, investors in the resource sector are very indifferent to good news or reporting.  I am happy with that....
