PEP

Never heard of this stock but it possesses disruptive technology.  And it is making a profit already so I invested in this stock today after getting rid of many non-performing resource stocks, all at big losses and probably unlikely to recover while commodity prices are still well below what they were.

Normally, I just buy a little and accumulate over time.  But with this, I just bought a more sizeable parcel.

FLN

I sold a lot of my resource stocks today.  All are non performing and have made big losses.  With those sales, I bought FLN based on its rosy future.

I also wanted to diversify my range of stocks.  This one is based on the internet...

Pssss.... Look at TAS

In Dec 2015, TAS wrote that it owns nearly 44% of EDE.  With EDE at around 5c, its holding in EDE was worth 7c to its value.

Today, EDE is worth 17c and TAS is worth 12c on the ASX.

Can anyone do simple arithmetic?  The only downside is I have no idea how much debt TAS is in.

Alpha

Good days on the market for me is when I collect alphas.  This has not been the case for a while because of my overweight in resource stocks.

However, while market sentiment has been poor, because I have GMM, GOR, EDE, SYD, NEA and NST, I have been blessed.  Well, this kind of blessing can be very volatile and ephemeral...  Fashion comes and goes.

SYD vs CBA

I bought CBA when it floated, topped up with DRP and then boosted when my SBN shares (bought when SBN floated) were taken over by CBA.  Hence CBA became my biggest single parcel in my super fund portfolio.  Not anymore with the recent fall in bank shares.

The equity that has taken over is SYD...  Both these stocks pay good dividends!

My father would tell you to buy stocks that pay good dividends, CONSISTENTLY.  Of course, you jettison any stock that pays 'dividend' out of a loan/debt.  I would add that you buy stocks that pay good dividends with a monopoly...

TAS

This stock became almost valueless... but it owns a chunk of EDE.

Once EDE started to perform, TAS started to gain value.  I think now the child is so valuable that the parent has become meaningful!  However, because it has fallen so much, after accounting for inflation, I have to hope that EDE jumps another 100% before TAS becomes profitable after all these years!

Interestingly EDE has another technological project in India which has stalled.  It peels off the hydrogen from methane, and use it as Hythane to run an engine.  The leftover carbon is used to make the carbon nanofibre.  When hydrogen burns in oxygen, it becomes water.  However it is an extremely flammable gas...  explosive too if not controlled.

EDE GMM GOR NEA NMT

Today where the market fell by about 0.5%, my super portfolio went up by 2.65%.  When you invest in resource or  technology stock, be prepared for a roller coaster ride.

EDE has a cement technology which appears to be superior to anything available using carbon nanotubes to reinforce concrete.  Base on tests in Georgia USA, it has been performing well.  Hence, the market could be huge... and it is already attracting attention.  When it first announced its technology in 2011, I bought at 8c, rose to 16c (bought more), only to tumble to 11c (bought again) and then under 5c (and topped up more).  Still I bought more.... from under 1c in 2012, and more in 2015 at 1.8c to 3.1c.  Today it closed at 17c.

The current hot flavour is lithium... so GMM and NMT have shined.  In fact, anything with lithium is glowing.

GOR is delineating a major goldfield from next to nothing...

And NEA took on Google... and made money from selling better maps!

EDE

In the last 12 months, I topped up at under 4c... Today it reached 13c.  When a product is successful and successfully tested in the USA to be a superior product, people will want to buy it... and I benefit!
