Nothing in Central Australia

It appears like there is nothing in Central Australia except for one big lump of monolith and a dry Todd River used annually for a regatta.

Yet, if you read The Australian today, after spending $70 billion on 3 LNG projects at Gladstone, those 3 consortiums are scouring around Cooper Basin (and others in Central Australia) for more gas to run their plants at full capacity.

Normally, it is insider information but here we have the CEO of DLS telling the public that he can smell the interest building in his successful company.  Both DLS and BPT have better success rate so their share prices have appreciated.  But there are many in that area that are laggards, too.

I acquired DLS indirectly when it took over AQO and I made a small profit.  I took note when the editor recommended AQO so I topped up my holding when the share price went below what I paid for at float.

I also bought SXY when it was VPE.  I took stag profit for one VPE parcel and could have topped up when it dipped lower but I am happy with what I still own.

COE is doing fine but not spectacular.

There are others where I have made losses too and these are the ones that I am more interested in as they have not scored while their tenements are promising.  CTP is now underwater but if it finds a good hit, then it will explode in price.  Meanwhile, stocks like ICN, BKP and EWC, (OBL and BRU in Canning Basin, BUL in Qld and AWE and NWE in Canning Basin) I just have to be watchful.  Already, one was swallowed by a Chinese suitor recently.  I made a small loss but it was small only because I topped up when I read of Chinese interest. That top-up parcel was a nice gainer reducing my loss significantly.  Should I have bought more?  Inshallah!

Big Brother

At one stage, the Tokyo Stock Exchange was worth more than NYSE.  Then it collapsed.  At one stage, the rise of China gave impetus to the notion that the USA will be relatively insignificant before long.  And for a long period, European arrogance and self-adulation persisted until 2008 showed up its bee's knees.

Yesterday, every market tumbled.  Yet, last night Wall Street perked up for whatever reason.  So for the next 24 hours, Big Brother will show why it is still big.  Now you know the ASX is really a poodle...

WDR

I bought WDR about 6-8 years ago but I sold out a bit too early.  The progress was so slow yet it was promising.  Everything seems to point the right way but the share price did not perform.  And then it did climb when it started to attract powerful Australian businessmen on board.

Today, after it started with Fe ore at more than $130 per ton about 9 months ago, it is now heading towards $84 so WDR filed for bankruptcy!  So now I won't complain that at least I made a small profit and got my money back!

AVB

If I tell the world that this stock is worth investing, I would be laughed at.  But if Evy Hambro tell the world that this stock is his best junior mining stock, then the share price will jump.  The truth is, I am very glad that no one hears me...

AMI and ALK

Both are exploring in the same area.  Yet one has raced away in share price recently.  And today, it has a trading halt to announce an exploration result.  If it has raced away recently and there is a trading halt, it is hard to imagine why it is not insider trading.  And you would expect a good result.

The other has been languishing yet is a well-run company.  The exploration results have not been bad either.  Yet it is so hard to explain the very varied direction these two stocks are moving.  Inshallah!

Resource stocks

I try hard not to buy speculative shares.  But what is the definition of "speculative"?

I put in a bit for JRV and got some, not all that I wanted.  The word scandium does not mean anything but recently another stock had a leap when it made a deal with a Chinese company.  There is no mining yet and it already hit the jackpot.  So will JRV do the same?

Another stock that I have put in a bid for is NWE.  It has already found gas in Perth Basin but it does not have a lot of fund.  So it isn't having a lot of fun either with its share price.  Its partner is discover more gas nearby.

Both these stocks have been major losses for me but they are definitely promising.  So I decided to buy instead of sell out.  My recent purchase of blue chips stocks have paid off but it is ridiculous to hold only small parcel of those resource stocks so either I sell with commission taking a big bite or top up a good but unwanted stocks.
