AGR

When you read and understand the basis for investing in this stock, you cannot understand why the price kept slipping.  Brazil has to import most of its phosphate and potash requirement for its agricultural industry.  And when AGR's P and K discovery is in Brazil, you wonder why it is not taken over by the big boys.

Hence, I suffered a severe loss when I bought at nearly 60c per share.  It is now worth only 13c.  However, because I cannot believe how ridiculous the share price is, I topped up in 2013 and 2014 at 6.9c and 4.6c per share.  As AGR discovered more deposits, its share price has been rising and rising.

It is nice to know that logic and basic principles still apply to some equities.  With near triple the price I paid for in 2014, I have recouped my losses from the first purchase.

Greece

Short term, there will be market upheaval if Greece defaults and gets kicked out of EU.  But if there is a crash, it would be the best time to buy shares I reckon.  The exit of Greece, which is living like a parasite, would be great in the long run.  And if the drachma should be reintroduced and is worth next to nothing, then it is the best time to go for a holiday there!

GOR

When this company found a new gold belt east of Kalgoorlie, I bought some shares in it.  Then after more investments, it went down but it rose again because more gold were discovered and journalists were writing about it.  So I have been in positive territory again for a long while now.

Today, I received the form for SPP but I elected to buy my top-up in the market.  The SPP is priced at 44c, limited to $10 million raising only.  Normally that means I will get only a tiny parcel, ie a huge scale down  Recently, there was a placement for nearly $40 million at 44c.  It does not happen very frequently but the placement (and SPP) price is around 10% more than the buy price today!

VLA

Technically, it should be easy for me to pick medical biotech stocks.  Yet, often, it is a loss.  Why?  There are too many factors, many are unpredictable or unforeseen.

For example, when you purchase a sleep apnoea company, suddenly you find other equipment are introduced which are better.  That could spell the end of your investment.  Or if there is complication, then it can be decimated, too.  While it might be successful in all aspect, nothing could happen if it is not sold in the USA.  And you only profit if a big multinational decides to take it over.

This time around, it is VLA's turn to shine but you never know when it collapses again...  The idea is fantastic, the announcements have been good but you only need on major bad news and it vapourises.
