GGG

I more often than not, get it wrong!

GGG was topped up recently after I read that a Chinese company worth AUD$3 billion is buying stocks in it to get its hand of the REE deposit in Greenland.  With REE, you need to have a willing buyer, a keen developer (the extraction of REE is not cheap nor easy) and someone to share the cost with.

Market was not interested in that news and the share price has drifted lower!  Maybe, it is time for another top up if it stays down.

FLN

Warren Buffett cannot be emulated by small investors... nor big investors who are just not big enough.  Why?  He knows everything about the business he bought; he does not buy anything he does not understand, e.g. when dot.com companies were flying over him and flying very high.  He does not just buy shares; he buys or influences the management so he has to buy a huge chunk to have his say.  His reputation is way beyond all the rest of us so why would any management listen to us?

I bought FLN because I only understand one simple concept.  If the stock is earning a profit and earning profits for quite a while, then it must be a viable business with good prospect.  My only concerns are that it hasn't listed for that long on the ASX and it has not paid any dividend.

However, since its share price has fallen after I bought for the first time a few months ago AND it has not announced any bad news, then it is time to top up again.  I can't understand why investors want to dump it unless they know a lot more than me.

FBR

It had a good write-up on its brick laying robots...  It can work non-stop, functions like a 3D printer, lays faster than a brickie can and has no union membership.  The latter may or may not be an advantage!

I bought some after it had its first commercial contract to build a house.  That is a trial of course.  If it is successful, then this world-first technology would do well unless superseded by another technology.

Today, it has gone over what I paid... by a little.  In the last week, there was a market plunge, so this stock has been resilient!

Discrepancy....

TAS owns a big chunk of EDE.  And based on my calculation (check your own!), it is worth about 1.5x whatever each share of EDE is.  Today, EDE is around 22.5c so it should worth be at least 33c per TAS share if TAS sold its holding on the market.  TAS has no debt and still has tenement(s) for exploration.

I have bought TAS at a higher price recently.  I could not resist buying another lot today!  EDE went up and TAS went down at close.  Can you understand that?

Is a rise in interest rate a disaster for ASX?

There are too many people investing in the markets for short term gain.  If the interest rate rises, it is because the economy is booming.  The rise is to curb the exuberance.  Business was enhanced and had to be tempered.

It is interesting that some good fund managers are asking the Feds to just raise the interest rate instead of 'hinting' or showing reluctance when it should rise.  It will cause a bit of turmoil for a brief moment and then the short-term idiots will iron out themselves.

I am hoping for a rise in interest rate so that I can buy more good equities!

GRY

While it is a good gold exploration company in West Africa, the market is oblivious to it.  When it announced great shallow hits, the market is still uninterested.  Hence for a long time, I was nursing a big loss.  However, I decided that such good news cannot be ignored so I topped up to average down my buying price.  And then a Canadian gold company made an offer.  Even then, the market was still uninterested and the price is below the offer price.  So I topped up some more!

When the offer was final, I had a choice of switching over to pretend-ASX-listed share or Canadian shares.  This is too difficult so today, I sold off GRY on the market.  And made a small profit... which is always better than any loss!  Without the recent top-ups, I would have nurtured a huge loss.  With thanks to recent sellers!!!  Never sell when you have good news... unless the management is dishonest with facts.
